Card Box - Tutorial

Hi guys!

I'm finally getting around to posting this tutorial that I promised last weekend. This is a super simple box that will hold about six A2 sized cards and envelopes. You can make it as simple or as elegant as you like. I like my cards and box to match because I give them as small gifts. You could also do these up to sell at craft fairs.

Lets get started shall we? For this project you will need:

1 piece of 8-1\2” x 11” Cardstock

1 piece of 6-1\2 x 2-1\4” Patterned Paper

1 piece of Ribbon (about 8 inches or so)

Score Tape (I use the red stuff)

Whatever embellishments you would like to use

Step 1
Put your 11" side of your cardstock at the top on your scoreboard and score at 2-1\4", 3-1/4", 9" and 10"

Step 2
Turn your cardstock so the 8-1/2" side is now at the top. Score at 1", 2", 6-1/2" and
7-1/2"



Step3
To demonstrate where to cut and fold, I have drawn out a diagram. The black solid lines is where you will cut. The orange are where you will fold. I use my bone folder to give it extra smoothness.



This is what your piece of cardstock should look like once it has been cut.



Step 4
As you can see from the picture, I trimmed the edges a little after I added the red sticky tape. This makes it a little easier to adhere down. This was done on the OUTSIDE of the box.



Turn the box over and use your sticky tape on all of the outer edges that need to be folded down. Refer to the photo below if you are unsure.



Step 5
Remove the sticky strip from the tape on the tabs and adhere to the insides of your box.



Now its time to remove the sticky strip from both sides and top before folding those down. Again, I used my bone folder to ensure it was smooth.

Lastly, fold the bottom edges down. This is what your box should look like.



Step 6
Using whatever adhesive you prefer, add glue to the 6-1\2" x 2-1\4" piece of patterned paper and adhere to the bottom of the cardbox. You can add your ribbon along the top edge of the bottom if you want and embellish to your hearts content. I just wrapped bakers twine from The Twinery around mine a couple of times and added a few cards just to use up some scraps.

Tea Bag Holder - Tutorial

Welcome! Erica over at Erica's Room challenged us to come up with a project using 2 Cricut cartridges. The catch was to only use the function keys (Shadow was not allowed). I decided to make a tea bag holder and I will be showing you how. This has been around forever and is NOT my original pattern. A friend of mine showed me how to make this a few years ago Its a fabulous way to use up those scraps (if you're like me you have tons leftover).

Step 1
From solid coloured card stock cut:
6 -3/4” x 3-1/2” piece for cover
1-1/8” x 9” for outer band

From your patterned paper cut:
6-1/2" x 5-1/2" for the middle insert
3-1/4" x 2-3/4" for the cover layer

Step 2
On your 6-3/4” x 3-1/2” piece of solid coloured card stock, score at 3-1/8" and 3-5/8" (The Martha Stewart score board is AWESOME btw!).


Step 3
Smooth the creases with your bone folder.


For the outter band, score at 2-3/8", 2-5/8", 6-1\8" and 6-3\8"



Step 4
With your 6-1/2" X 5-1/2" piece of patterned paper, place your 6-1/2" side at the top of your paper cutter and score 3” and 6”. Crease edges. You will use adhesive on the top of the 1/2 section. I used my ATG gun but you could certainly use the super sticky red tape if you wanted. Bring the opposite end of your designer paper over to meet your sticky strip fold lining it up as you go.

Step 6
Score the insert at 2-1/2" and 3"


Step 7
I forgot to take a photo of this step because my 1-1/2" punch broke so I had to run out to buy another. Insert the patterned paper into the hole punch halfway and punch both ends. Hopefully you will see in the photo in the next step!

Step 8
Put adhesive on the middle and end sections of patterned paper ( I used my ATG all over) and adhere to cover. Be sure to line up score marks. Here is what it should look like.


Step 9
Its time to decorate the outside cover. I just used a piece of 3-1/4" x 2-3/4" patterned paper. I did chaulk the edges with color box dark brown chaulk ink. This isn't necessary. You could do many other things.

Insert your Tea bag packets

I forgot to take a photo of this step as well but in the middle section you will need to punch two holes. This is where the ribbon will go.

Step 12
Wrap the paper band around holder. You will need to glue the outer side of one end and the underside of the other. Again, I forgot to take a photo of this step. My daughter just woke from a nap and wouldn't leave my goodies alone.

Step 13
Thread the Ribbon through the holes and tie in a bow. I just used a leftover piece from another project that was laying around.

Step 14
Decorate the paper band. The scallop was cut at 3-1\4" and the Tea for 2 was cut at 2-1\4. I attached with pop dots and voila, a super duper easy little gift.
